Position Overview

Abbott's Established Pharmaceutical Division (EPD) is seeking a Senior Distribution Specialist for its global Pharma Division Headquarters in Allschwil, Basel. Primary Job Function

  • Global Distribution Route Implementation: Coordinate efforts and support the execution team to ensure the successful introduction of new cold chain and ambient temperature distribution routes, guaranteeing first-time-right distribution processes for regulatory submissions and quality compliance.
  • Global Distribution Design Optimization: Monitor and ensure effective implementation of design and optimization projects, including warehouse transfers and new hub developments from an execution perspective.
  • Compliance and Customer Satisfaction: Align transport and warehouse processes with customer expectations while adhering to internal and external regulations (quality, regulatory, GMP/GDP) in a cost-effective manner.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement global distribution routes while facilitating communication around global distribution design.
  • Coordinate and execute strategic logistics programs, supporting the global EPD distribution of goods, including qualifications for initial routes and sample shipments.
  • Provide leadership and support for distribution-related projects.
  • Assist in developing and executing strategic logistics plans to reduce costs and process variations, identifying and applying appropriate tools and tactics.
  • Monitor daily market and geopolitical situations to identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies, coordinating necessary implementation steps.

Compliance Responsibilities

  • Administer all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to transport and warehouse from an execution perspective.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to implement updates and provide training to key parties.
  • Review all quality documentation related to transport and warehouse operations, providing insightful recommendations.

Minimum Experience / Training Required

  • Experience/Training: A Bachelor's or Master’s degree and/or a comparable educational background in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or Customs & Trade compliance within logistics operations in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • 5-10 years of experience in the distribution and transportation of pharmaceutical products.
  • Demonstrated project management expertise in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP ECC and strong proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Power BI, etc.).

  • Effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, capable of adapting agendas in fast-paced, complex environments.
  • Agility and efficiency in managing operations under pressure while maintaining focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Able to work simultaneously on multiple, unrelated projects while effectively prioritizing tasks.
  • Strong influencing skills across various organizational levels and functions, with a proven track record in project management.
  • Proficient in English (oral and written); proficiency in additional languages is considered an advantage.
