Senior Distribution Specialist

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Senior Distribution Specialist within the Abbott Established Pharmaceutical Division (EPD) at our global Pharma Division Headquarters located in Allschwil, Basel. Primary Job Function

  • Coordinate Global Distribution Routes: Lead efforts to support the execution team in ensuring the readiness of new cold chain and ambient temperature routes. Guarantee first-time-right physical distribution processes to support regulatory submissions and quality requirements.
  • Implement and Optimize Global Distribution Design: Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization projects to ensure compliance and efficiency. This includes managing warehouse transfers and establishing new hubs.
  • Compliance and Customer Satisfaction: Align logistics processes with customer expectations while adhering to internal and external regulations, including quality, regulatory standards, and GMP/GDP. Ensure smooth operations across systems.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement global distribution routes, facilitating communication and collaboration.
  • Coordinate and execute strategic logistics programs to support the global EPD distribution, including first route qualifications and sample shipments.
  • Provide leadership and support for distribution-related projects.
  • Assist in the development and execution of strategic logistics plans to reduce costs and process variations through effective tools and tactics.
  • Monitor the daily market and geopolitical landscape to identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies, coordinating implementation efforts.

Compliance Related

  • Administer all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to Transport and Warehouse from an execution perspective. Collaborate with stakeholders to update procedures and conduct training for key personnel.
  • Review Quality documentation related to Transport and Warehousing and provide actionable recommendations.

Minimum Experience / Training Required

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree (or comparable educational background) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or Customs & Trade compliance in logistics operations within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • 5-10 years of experience in the distribution and transportation of pharmaceutical products.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP ECC) and strong proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Power BI, etc.).

  • Proactive communication, coordination, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders in complex environments.
  • Adept at navigating rapidly changing circumstances while maintaining focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple, unrelated projects simultaneously and arbitrate priorities effectively.
  • Strong influencing skills across all levels and functions. Proven ability to manage projects efficiently.
  • Proficient in English (oral and written); knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
