Position Summary

The (Sr.) Director of Value, Access and Policy, Europe, is a vital partner on Acadia’s Global Value & Access Team, as well as the European Value, Access and Policy team. This role is accountable for achieving and maintaining optimal pricing and market access through initiatives that deliver value to patients, healthcare systems, society, and the company. In collaboration with the Head of the European Value, Access and Policy team, this individual will define Acadia’s strategy for Market Access in Europe and contribute to building an organization capable of executing it cross-functionally. Additionally, the (Sr.) Director will shape product access strategies and ensure that local needs, such as the need for additional evidence, are recognized and communicated effectively.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the mid-size and small European countries with a primary focus on their unique needs.
  • Ensure that pricing and access launch strategies in these focus countries are high quality and fit for purpose.
  • Develop pricing and access strategies based on insights, incorporating additional evidence needs and value propositions beyond the drug, as well as managed entry schemes and other agreements to ensure mutual value.
  • Deliver high-quality and timely preparation of P&R dossiers.
  • Collaborate with local and European teams to identify evidence requirements for successful access and aid in the creation of program-specific Evidence Plans.
  • Establish a coordinated negotiation strategy with a clearly defined approach.
  • Build and maintain relationships with a broad range of stakeholders to support access engagement and education, including consultations with patients regarding their needs and the impact of diseases in their local context.
  • Foster personal relationships with select payers, advisors, key opinion leaders, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare and manage annual strategic plans and budgets for the function with accurate forecasting and sound decision-making.
  • Monitor trends and anticipate key developments in Europe regarding Health Technology Assessment and Government/Payer reimbursement initiatives.

Education/Experience/Skills

A Bachelor's degree is required, with an MBA or PhD in science and/or economics preferred. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of progressively increasing responsibilities in Market Access within a pharmaceutical or biotech organization, with significant scientific exposure in rare diseases, particularly within the CNS realm and in the context of early patient access programs. A combination of relevant education and applicable experience may be considered.

Key Skills

  • Recent experience in early patient access programs and the launch of orphan drugs, ideally with direct or adjacent experience in the CNS space.
  • Hands-on experience in pricing negotiations in one or more European markets.
  • Proven success in cross-functional teamwork.
  • Fluency in English (written and oral) is mandatory; additional European languages are a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, medical, clinical, and regulatory colleagues to foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Strong digital literacy and proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including formal presentation abilities.
  • Willingness to travel both within Europe and internationally.
