The Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC) is a National Research Infrastructure jointly founded by EPFL and ETH Zurich and is part of the ETH Domain. Its mandate is to support academic labs, hospitals, industry, and public sector stakeholders—including cantonal and federal administrations—through their entire data science journey. This encompasses everything from data collection and management to machine learning, AI, and industrialization. With a large, multidisciplinary team of professionals across three locations (Lausanne, Zurich, Villigen), the SDSC provides expertise and services across various domains, including health and biomedical sciences, energy and sustainability, climate and environment, and large-scale scientific infrastructures.
We are currently seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join the Research team at SDSC. This team is responsible for fostering research collaborations in both the academic and public sectors.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will leverage your expertise in machine learning, statistical data science, computer vision, natural language processing, and signal processing to collaborate closely with researchers, experts, and other partners from academia and the public sector in Switzerland. Your work will span various fields, including health and biomedical sciences, climate and environment, energy and sustainability, physical and engineering sciences, and digital society. You will assist in identifying how to analyze or model data to address specific scientific questions or develop algorithms for automating complex tasks.
We offer a stimulating, collaborative, and cross-disciplinary environment within a world-class research institution. You will be part of a team of 40 data scientists from over 15 different countries, all dedicated to applying and developing novel ML methods to address real-world challenges.
We prioritize work-life balance and provide opportunities for publishing your research in collaboration with experts from various disciplines in top-ranked journals and conferences. You will also have the chance to help supervise student projects. We encourage experimentation and creativity by actively promoting the learning of new technologies and approaches within the role, ensuring that your opinion is valued.
