About the Role
Swiss Himmel GmbH is seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Engineer with over 10 years of expertise in designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise-scale ETL and Data Warehouse solutions within the Banking and Financial Services industry. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in building data pipelines, Oracle Database, PL/SQL, Unix, Shell scripting, Informatica PowerCenter, Control-M Batch Scheduling, Production Support, and Site Reliability Engineering.
The candidate should demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and proven experience in delivering mission-critical applications while ensuring high system availability, operational stability, and production excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, operate, and further improve our existing Data Integration Platform.
- Support the stable and secure operation of our current data landscape and optimize ETL workflows for improved performance and maintenance.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into robust technical ETL solutions.
- Perform data mapping, implement transformation logic, and manage metadata.
- Contribute your expertise to the design of our future data integration setup.
- Assist in the gradual transition of existing solutions to modern, cloud-based architectures.
- Collaborate with other delivery teams, business units, and the Data Engineering Team to ensure that our solutions are high-quality, secure, maintainable, and sustainable.
- Actively engage in agile working practices and take responsibility for your areas of focus.
- Lead workshops with product owners, architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to capture functional and non-functional requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in ETL Development, Data Warehousing, and Production Support.
- Strong database experience, including PL/SQL programming, SQL querying, analysis, and optimization.
- Extensive hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines for data sourcing, transformation, validation, and loading using enterprise ETL solutions, preferably Informatica PowerCenter.
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux and Shell Scripting for automation and batch processing.
- Solid knowledge of financial data classification, data governance, and data lineage standards.
- Expertise in BMC Control-M for batch scheduling, monitoring, and job recovery.
- Experience in Level 3 (L3) Application Support and Incident Management.
- Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and production monitoring.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, and Grafana.
- Willingness to participate in on-call and weekend support during release cycles and production maintenance activities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management with ServiceNow.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, and experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Experience in banking, financial services, or regulated environments.
