Job Purpose and Impact

The Senior Data Engineer - Digital Technology & Data for Agriculture & Trading is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining complex data products that facilitate data analysis and reporting. Working with minimal supervision, this role ensures the efficient processing of large data sets, making them accessible for trading decision-making.

This role requires expertise in Oracle PL SQL for managing an existing application back-end. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL and Python skills, along with experience in the Snowflake platform. Familiarity with KAFKA, DBT, Airflow, and Astronomer will be advantageous for future initiatives. Experience with trading-related data is also a plus.

Key Accountabilities

  • Data Infrastructure: Prepares data infrastructure to support efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Data Formats: Examines and resolves appropriate data formats to enhance data usability and accessibility across the organization.
  • Data & Analytical Solutions: Develops complex data products and solutions utilizing advanced engineering and cloud-based technologies, ensuring scalability, sustainability, and robustness.
  • Data Pipelines: Develops and maintains both streaming and batch data pipelines that enable seamless data ingestion, transformation, and movement to data stores such as data lakes and warehouses.
  • Data Systems: Reviews existing data systems and architectures to pinpoint areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborates with multifunctional data and advanced analytics teams to gather requirements and ensure data solutions meet both functional and non-functional needs of various partners.
  • Data Frameworks: Constructs complex prototypes to test new concepts and implements data engineering frameworks that enhance data processing capabilities and support advanced analytics initiatives.
  • Automated Deployment Pipelines: Develops automated deployment pipelines to improve the efficiency of code deployments with appropriate governance.
  • Data Modeling: Conducts complex data modeling according to datastore technology to ensure sustainable performance and accessibility.

Qualifications

A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, typically reflecting 5 years or more of pertinent experience.
