About the Role

The Zurich Global Employee Benefits Solutions team assists multinational companies in finding the right financing solutions for their global employee benefit plans. From multinational pooling and captive services to innovative global underwriting programs, we offer a holistic approach to risk management and financing solutions, maximizing the value of our clients' global employee benefit plans.

We are seeking a motivated and commercially minded Senior Captive Underwriter to join our dynamic international environment. In this role, you will act as the primary point of contact for any technical topics related to our corporate customers, managing complex new and renewal cases as part of a team of Life, Disability, Accident, and Group Medical underwriters. This position, based in either Zurich or London, provides an exceptional opportunity to operate within a truly global context.

Your Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the request for proposal process alongside the sales team by providing technical expertise to the ZGEBS proposal.
  • Support the implementation process for newly acquired captives by establishing the reinsurance program, which includes the reinsurance agreement wording and any credit risk-related matters.
  • Provide professional underwriting support to the captives for the onboarding and renewal of any cases being handled through the ZGEBS network while ensuring that ZGEBS profitability targets are met.
  • Use a disciplined approach to risk assessment of new and renewal business within your own customer portfolio.
  • Actively promote the ZGEBS captive expertise externally, including:
    • Representing ZGEBS in finalist presentations.
    • Regularly engaging with captive customers.
    • Promoting ZGEBS expertise at professional conferences and with employee benefit consultants.
  • Develop and enhance the ZGEBS captive proposition by listening to market demands and aligning them with Zurich's objectives, shaping our global solutions and client satisfaction.
  • Evaluate captive protection needs and provide offerings in line with ZGEBS profitability and risk appetite.
  • Provide broader underwriting support to the ZGEBS underwriting team, including deputizing for other underwriters during their absences.

Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of practical experience in underwriting employee benefit schemes for Life and/or Health business.
  • A degree in mathematics, finance, or a related field.
  • Ability to quickly understand and utilize new technical information and analyze datasets for pricing.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills with high accuracy in daily tasks.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a dynamic, multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable presenting to and discussing with customers, and effectively communicating technical topics to various stakeholders including sales and operations functions.
  • Experience in establishing reinsurance agreements and a solid understanding of reinsurance covers would be advantageous.
