Job Description
In this role, you will support the business in drafting functional requirements utilized by software engineering and third-party system providers. You will participate in the Orchestrade project, which aims to replace the current in-house Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) system, and contribute to testing and quality assurance processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Analysis & Solutions Design:
- Act as an interface to the business, ensuring a clear understanding of objectives and priorities, while proactively proposing value-adding solutions.
- Configure systems via the GUI for business readiness (setup, workflow, templates, pricing, etc.).
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to define functional requirements and ensure their validation aligns with the overall systems landscape and Trading IT strategy.
- Work alongside the technical team, including software/application engineers, to design and deliver effective solutions.
- Engage with vendor teams for core development that is managed externally.
- Prepare and execute test plans, ensuring compliance with user/business specifications and the IT control framework.
- Coordinate with Business Analysts and other IT resources within the Trading IT organization, particularly during migration initiatives.
- Utilize your general knowledge to propose enhancements for business process improvement.
- Service Delivery & Support:
- Prepare project plans and manage change initiatives, contributing to project implementation as part of a team.
- Communicate with the business regarding all aspects of service delivery and advocate for IT solutions provided.
- Manage a backlog of change requirements and assist in their timely delivery.
- Offer user support and aid in resolving incidents and problems.
Context and Environment
TotalEnergies Gas & Power Trading (TGP) and its affiliates are rapidly expanding to support the company's transition to power. This includes acquiring energy assets from renewable sources such as wind and solar, in addition to batteries and CCGTs. Consequently, the trading sector is experiencing significant growth in trading volumes and geographical coverage, leading to an urgent need for process automation, which has substantial implications for IT. The Power Trading System team will support all Power-related functions with high-availability systems, including trade capture, market data, risk and PnL computation, settlement, regulatory compliance, confirmation, invoicing, accounting, and treasury functions. In this context, TotalEnergies is committed to transitioning from the current ETRM to a more modern and cross-asset platform.
Accountabilities
Act as an effective bridge between the business/users and software engineering teams or third-party system providers, defining requirements and aiding in the delivery of solutions. Ensure quality in deliveries to meet business expectations while providing general support to the organization. Maintain continuity by documentation, training, and knowledge sharing with both business stakeholders and other IT personnel.
Qualifications / Experience Required
- 5 years of experience in a utility or commodity trading environment, preferably with exposure to energy markets.
- Knowledge of ETRM systems such as Orchestrade, Calypso, Murex, and Endur is preferred.
- Strong interest in IT and technology, along with experience in software engineering and application management.
- Proven ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously under pressure, possessing good communication and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Experience in Project Management, DevOps, Agile delivery methodologies, and requirements engineering is desirable.
- Understanding of front-to-risk system flows and trade lifecycles, with knowledge of various physical and derivatives instruments and their associated risks and P&L measures.
- Familiarity with back-office and finance processes is an advantage.
- Degree-level education in IT, technology, or engineering disciplines.
- Fluency in English & French is required.
