IBBIS is on the lookout for a Senior Bioinformatics Engineer to elevate its free open-source DNA synthesis screening tool. This role focuses on optimizing sequence analysis, enhancing pathogen detection, and contributing to global biosecurity standards.
We are proud to support IBBIS in its initiatives in Geneva under an exclusive mandate. IBBIS is an international organization committed to advancing biosecurity and biosafety. It works to strengthen international, regional, and national norms while developing innovative tools, including the Common Mechanism—an essential system for screening synthetic DNA. In 2025, IBBIS aims to expand synthetic DNA screening, promote international standards, and facilitate responsible research and innovation.
The Senior Bioinformatics Engineer will be instrumental in optimizing and expanding the Common Mechanism, IBBIS’s open-source sequence screening tool. With over 1 million sequences validated and resilience demonstrated against AI-redesigned pathogens, IBBIS is seeking to fortify its team to establish this tool as a global standard for synthesis screening.
We are looking for a technically adept candidate with strong security judgment. Candidates may have experience in pathogen detection, high-performance computing, or scientific software development. While specific biosecurity expertise is beneficial, we highly value the ability to construct robust bioinformatics pipelines and execute strategic technical decisions.
