Senior Automation Engineer at AES

AES is seeking a dedicated Senior Automation Engineer to play a crucial role in planning, executing, and testing the functionality of automated production processes, including recipe management, equipment management (EM), and configuration and sequencing management (CM) using DeltaV. This position involves participation in I/O troubleshooting and configuration of DeltaV and an understanding of its infrastructure. The successful candidate will support the standardization and optimization of automation production processes while also facilitating knowledge transfer and effective decision-making within the team.

This role acts as a liaison for technical oversight on assigned projects between clients and site personnel, ensuring project success. Communication with all affected parties is vital to meet milestones and production timelines. The Senior Automation Engineer is expected to anticipate and escalate scope deviations promptly to adjust strategies as needed to meet client expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Validate and implement changes related to assigned projects.
  • Drive the development and implementation of automated processes, equipment, and inspection systems.
  • Design, develop, and optimize automation processes to prepare them for production environments.
  • Collaborate with project managers or work independently to establish project plans that meet internal customers’ expectations using appropriate project management tools.
  • Implement and integrate external systems to enhance existing automated equipment.
  • Investigate the root cause of equipment failures or quality issues and develop a corrective action plan.
  • Implement process improvements by applying various engineering disciplines, including robotics, automation, and simulation.
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned.

Skills:

  • Experience in automation design.
  • Strong knowledge of Good Automation Manufacturing Practice (GAMP).
  • Control system experience, specifically with DeltaV.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including conflict resolution and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Efficient time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of total automation experience, with at least 5 years specifically working with DeltaV.
