About the Role

Our site in Visp, Switzerland is expanding, and we are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer (m/f/d) for our Biologics organization. This role will lead the implementation of a standardized Automation Recipe Lifecycle approach as we transition new growth assets into operations. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a central team, collaborating with Automation and Operations across all Biologics Manufacturing Assets to coordinate recipe updates, testing, documentation, and installation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of a standardized recipe lifecycle approach for products in the routine manufacturing phase.
  • Drive the development of recipes for major growth projects.
  • Author cGMP-compliant documentation (FS, Software Test Cases, SOPs, etc.) in collaboration with Bioprocess engineers, Plant Leads, QA, and MSAT.
  • Supervise and modify processes under change control during the startup, qualification, and production phases, while participating in risk and process deviation analyses.
  • Provide support outside of normal working hours in critical situations such as imminent production downtime or security concerns.
  • Build and modify shared recipe objects, and define EC Modules in the MES/DeltaV systems to run production processes.
  • Enhance procedures and processes, ensuring compliance with safety, hygiene, environmental, and quality requirements within your area of responsibility.

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Computer Engineering, Science, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • Structured, focused, and well-organized work ethic, with a solution-oriented and open-minded approach.
  • Expertise with MES Syncade and DeltaV is highly desired, along with familiarity with other GMP systems (LIMS, SAP, MODA, etc.).
  • Ability to identify risks related to security or compliance/GMP, discuss them, and assist in resolving them.
  • Outstanding team and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of IT/process control systems, recognizing operational optimization potential.
  • Capable of independently implementing measures to optimize security, costs, or operational processes.
  • Business fluent in English.
