We are seeking a talented Senior Audio Engineer to join our team at the Sennheiser Mobility R&D center in Zürich. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing immersive and tailored audio experiences that enhance the overall environment within premium vehicle cabins, managing all personnel and activities in this domain. Requirements

  • Education: A bachelor's degree or higher in audio engineering, sound design, music production, or a related field with a focus on immersive audio technologies, such as spatial audio, 3D sound, and binaural techniques. A Tonmeister degree or a program with a focus on recording arts and acoustics is particularly valuable.
  • Experience: Previous experience in audio engineering, sound design, or similar roles, ideally within the automotive industry, is an advantage.
  • Technical expertise: Proficiency in audio recording, editing, and mixing techniques, as well as familiarity with various audio measurement tools and industry-standard software, such as Pro Tools, REAPER, or Logic Pro.
  • Acoustic knowledge: A strong understanding of acoustics, psychoacoustics, and sound perception in immersive audio contexts, and the ability to apply this knowledge to optimize in-vehicle audio experiences.
  • Creativity: A creative and innovative approach to sound design, with a keen sense of aesthetics, trends, and an ability to craft unique soundscapes and auditory elements.
  • Attention to detail: Rigorous attention to detail and meticulousness in tuning and balancing audio systems, ensuring all aspects of the sound environment are optimized.
  • Teamwork and collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with interdisciplinary teams and various stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving: Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve issues related to audio system performance and sound quality.
  • Time management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage schedules, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Continuous learning: A commitment to staying up to date with the latest advancements in automotive audio and related technology, as well as a willingness to continuously improve and develop new skills.
  • Project management skills: Proficiency in handling project timelines, budgeting, resource management, and coordinating with team members and clients. Familiarity with project management tools can be an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel: Be prepared to travel extensively, up to 50% of the time, especially to Asia, to conduct on-site testing, work with clients, or participate in industry events and demos.

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize the in-vehicle sound experience by balancing and tuning audio systems to achieve the best possible sound quality for various music genres and audio sources.
  • Conduct objective evaluations of audio systems using precise measurement techniques, as well as subjective evaluations.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers to define and standardize tuning processes to improve operational efficiency and ensure seamless integration of audio systems into new and existing vehicles.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the team and the customers for all sound-related aspects of the automotive systems, providing tailored solutions that meet or exceed the required standards in terms of performance, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate records, technical documents, and reports on audio system development.
  • Manage all personnel resources related to sound design and tuning.
  • Represent the audio team in project planning.
  • Collaborate closely with the business developers to give demos of our technologies to customers and represent the audio team to describe our approach to creating premium audio experiences.
  • Keep up to date with advances in automotive audio and psychoacoustic research to improve the in-vehicle sound experience and adhere to industry benchmarks and best practices.
