Job Opportunity: Senior Application Manager

We are exclusively looking for a Senior Application Manager on behalf of our partner, De Jong Verpakking, located in De Lier, part of Stora Enso. This role is ideal for a confident professional who can manage multiple applications simultaneously and elevate collaboration between IT and business.

About the Role

In this position, you will work in a close-knit and ambitious IT team dedicated to the stabilization, optimization, and further development of a modern and diverse application landscape. Your responsibilities will include managing suppliers, working closely with key users and colleagues from the business, and guiding your team toward a more proactive and process-oriented way of working.

What Will You Do?

• Manage a set of applications.
• Coach and guide your direct colleagues in the application management team.
• Ensure performance monitoring, life cycle management, and health checks.
• Conduct root cause analyses for incidents and provide structural solutions.
• Initiate and develop improvements in change requests and functional specifications.
• Support deliveries to the business through manuals, user meetings, and training.
• Connect to strategic projects centered around digitization and process optimization.
• Manage stakeholders, from end-users in operations to management and external suppliers.
• Share best practices with your colleagues to professionalize the application landscape further.

Where Will You Work?

You will join a leading international player in the manufacturing sector, delivering millions of packages daily across six European countries. The organization combines scale with entrepreneurship, promoting an informal, decisive, and entrepreneurial culture.

The IT team consists of about 15 colleagues, including 3 application managers, service desk staff, business analysts, project managers, and the IT Director. Together, you are responsible for key applications such as AFAS, Exact, the ERP, and the WMS system. You will work on-site in the Westland region at least 4 days a week, as your role is crucial within both the team and the business.

What Do You Bring?

• At least 5 years of experience in a (senior) application management role.
• Proven experience in managing multiple and diverse applications.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management tools.
• Strong communication skills, results-oriented, with flair and humor.
• Demonstrable leadership abilities and the capacity to engage colleagues and suppliers.
• Technical foundational knowledge of system management, network management, and Azure.
• A process-oriented mindset that quickly identifies and resolves bottlenecks.
• Fluency in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
• Experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment is a plus.
