The Position

We are seeking a well-qualified, experienced, and flexible candidate who is a strong team player and can operate independently in a dynamic teaching environment. The Learning Support Teacher will work collaboratively with students, their families, and the School Student Support Teams and Faculty, supporting students in becoming self-directed learners and strong self-advocates. This role involves creating and implementing strategies tailored for a diverse range of learners. The successful candidate will join a team of teachers and therapists providing multiple levels of services and individualized support for students in both grade-level homerooms and specialized settings.

Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree (or equivalent certification) in Special Education and a valid special education teaching credential
  • A commitment to providing high-quality education for children with significant challenges
  • At least three years of experience working in mainstream or specialized schools with students who have significant learning needs
  • Experience developing, implementing, and revising individual educational plans, monitoring student progress, and supporting colleagues
  • Familiarity with common educational assessments to determine student competency levels and develop individualized learning plans
  • Experience delivering a variety of interventions with fidelity
  • Expertise in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and differentiated instruction to cater to varied needs
  • The aptitude to cultivate a classroom environment that fosters a sense of belonging
  • Confidence in using assistive technologies and 1:1 devices
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with other professionals to support student inclusion, including experience with collaborative teaching models
  • German language skills are desirable but not essential
