The Position

We are on the lookout for a highly skilled and experienced EAL teacher for our Secondary School, someone who engages and inspires learners through their passion and professional practice. The ideal candidate will possess significant EAL expertise and have experience working with multilingual learners in diverse bilingual/multilingual settings. An EAL teacher at ZIS will hold high expectations for learners while providing substantial support.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience teaching EAL, preferably in an international school context.
  • For non-Swiss/EU applicants, extensive international experience is required.
  • A learner-centered focus, capable of differentiating for diverse learning needs.
  • A teaching license, including EAL specialism; a Master’s level study is preferred.
  • A documented record of excellence in teaching.
  • Understanding of and experience using translanguaging strategies.
  • C2 level proficiency in English with exceptional writing and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
  • Experience using diagnostic language assessments and data to inform teaching practices.
  • Understanding of inquiry and concept-based curriculum and instruction approaches.
  • A strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A collaborative, inclusive, team-oriented disposition.
