Secondary Air Systems Engineer R&D
Become a vital part of our turbine development department within our gas turbine business in Baden (AG) and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of our product offerings.
Your Tasks
- Design energy-efficient and robust secondary air systems for gas turbines, including effective sealing systems.
- Develop secondary air system designs to enable flexible gas turbine operations with high load gradients, maximized emission-compliant load ranges, and hydrogen combustion capabilities suitable for today's diverse energy markets in transition.
- Design aerodynamic flow paths for the secondary air system, from compressor extraction to turbine blade feeds.
- Utilize advanced methods, such as CFD and network analysis, in the design of secondary air system components.
- Manage interfaces with components such as compressors, turbines, and GT structural parts.
- Specify component tests and analyze the resulting test data.
- Prepare, support, and lead secondary air system activities during validation test campaigns both in our test bed and in the field.
- Create and optimize numerical models using both in-house and commercial tools.
- Support the development of tools and methods for task automation and rapid data processing.
- Select and qualify numerical solvers, design graphical user interfaces, and implement algorithms.
Your Profile
- Degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Preferably 5 years of specialization and/or industry experience in aero-thermal design and engineering of turbomachinery or closely related disciplines.
- Experience in numerical modeling of complex systems within an industrial setting.
- Familiarity with ANSYS FLUENT; skills in CAD and programming languages are a plus.
- Self-motivated and confident team player with excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 15% globally.
- Fluent in English, with German as an advantage; knowledge of Italian is desirable.
