The D-BSSE is a unique institution where diverse fields of study converge in perfect harmony. It is the first of its kind at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, ETH Zurich, dedicated to advancing Systems Biology, Biotechnology, and Synthetic Biology. Our team applies state-of-the-art Synthetic Biology principles to engineer human cells and develop advanced gene and cell therapies that target cancer, as well as metabolic, neurodegenerative, autoimmune, and infectious diseases. Join Our Exciting Project

We are embarking on an exciting project! Our objective is to leverage synthetic biology tools to create remarkable AAV-based therapies. We aim to enhance their safety, efficacy, and scalability. Our team is dedicated to overcoming the challenges in the gene therapy landscape, including producing large quantities of AAV vectors and designing adaptable gene therapies that accurately regulate therapeutic protein levels. As part of our team, you will contribute to the development, validation, and integration of these technologies, shaping the pathway toward clinical translation.

We Are Looking For

We are in search of exceptional scientists passionate about the commercialization of startup technologies. You are a creative and highly motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic scientific environment. You are excited about the opportunity to create and implement cutting-edge technologies. Additionally, you possess:

  • A PhD in synthetic biology, bioengineering, biotechnology, or a related field
  • A proven track record and publication history in academia or industry
  • Experience with mammalian cell engineering, AAV vector design, production, purification, synthetic gene circuits, inducible expression systems, high-throughput screening, advanced molecular cloning, and in vivo preclinical models
  • A strong entrepreneurial mindset
  • A collaborative, motivated, and high-achieving attitude
