Position Overview

The selected candidate will play a vital role in the discovery and development of botanical-derived products. This position encompasses research, exploration, analysis, and experimentation aimed at identifying and validating bioactive compounds in plants that can be applied across various fields.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough literature reviews to identify potential plant species.
  • Collaborate in the planning of new product development initiatives.
  • Support the laboratory team in characterizing bioactive compounds from plant materials using state-of-the-art techniques (LC, MS, and others).
  • Manage product development projects, overseeing external service providers in the areas of in vitro bioassays and analytics, while also providing customer support.
  • Evaluate test data and prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the procurement and registration of test materials (plant samples).
  • Support internal laboratory work related to extraction and analytics.
  • Engage in scientific discussions and contribute to research proposals.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Senior profile, MSc; PhD is a plus.
  • Master's/PhD degree in Phytochemistry, Ethnobotany, Botany, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of plant biology, secondary metabolites, and their pharmacological effects.
  • Robust background in phytochemistry and natural product chemistry.
  • Extensive experience in laboratory research, including in vitro bioassays and experimental pharmacology.
  • Familiarity with advanced analytical techniques such as chromatography and mass spectrometry.
  • Experience with fieldwork and plant specimen collection.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated passion for sustainable and ethical practices in research.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English and German.
