Job Description

We are seeking a scientific assistant who will assist and coordinate teaching activities in the international master's program in Spatial Development and Infrastructure Systems. The role involves developing teaching materials, coordinating educational efforts, and actively engaging in teaching spatial planning theory and practice. The ideal candidate should be adept at navigating spatial planning in Switzerland while also making connections to other contexts. Additionally, the candidate should be capable of engaging with the intersection of spatial planning, urban planning, and urban design.

Profile

We are looking for a scientific assistant with the following qualifications:

  • A master's degree (or nearing completion) in spatial planning, urban design, urban planning, or urban studies
  • A strong interest in developing and applying pedagogical skills in higher education
  • Some experience in academic teaching and supervising theses is a plus
  • A willingness to enhance pedagogical skills through ETH teaching courses
  • Good knowledge and interest in the Swiss spatial planning system; knowledge of comparative spatial planning is advantageous
  • At least one year of practical experience in Swiss spatial planning or urban design
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and German, as teaching will be conducted in both languages
  • Skills and interest in visualization and graphical representation
  • Familiarity with the ETH Zurich systems at D-BAUG or D-ARCH is beneficial

We Offer

We provide a scientific assistant position focused on teaching, with a 30-50% workload (negotiable). The position is initially limited to 2 years but can be extended up to 6 years. We are looking for a candidate who can start between June and August 2026.
