Scientific Affairs Manager

40%-100%, Zurich, fixed-term

The research group led by Professor Valentina Boeva at ETH Zurich is seeking a dedicated Scientific Affairs Manager with a strong scientific background. Ideal candidates will have experience collaborating with biological or clinical laboratories and possess familiarity with machine learning concepts. The starting date is flexible and will be determined by mutual agreement. We are looking for individuals who have a keen interest in interdisciplinary work at the interface of machine learning, biology, and medicine.

We offer a one-year contract with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent position.

Job Description

In this role, you will support the research leadership with strategic and operational tasks within a scientific context. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and overseeing scientific projects, particularly in cancer genomics.
  • Acting as the central point of contact for clinical and biological partners, particularly concerning data management and ethical considerations.
  • Contributing to the preparation of project proposals, reports, and scientific publications.
  • Managing the laboratory's website and social media presence.
  • Organizing and supporting internal and external meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Serving as a liaison between research and administration.

Profile

  • Completed university degree (PhD) in mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, natural sciences, medical fields, or a related area.
  • Experience in scientific research, preferably in machine learning and/or data science.
  • Strong organizational skills and an independent, structured working style.
  • Experience in project management within an academic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in both German and English, both written and spoken.
  • An interest in interdisciplinary work within a dynamic, international team.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and ethical aspects related to handling patient data is an advantage.
  • Graphic design experience (e.g., for journal covers) would be a plus.
