Scientific Affairs Manager

The research group led by Professor Valentina Boeva at ETH Zurich is seeking a dedicated Scientific Affairs Manager with a strong scientific background. Ideal candidates will have experience collaborating with biological or clinical labs and working with groups that have a robust machine learning component. The starting date is by mutual agreement, and we expect a keen interest in operating within an interdisciplinary environment at the intersection of machine learning, biology, and medicine.

We offer a one-year contract with the potential for transition to a permanent position.

Job Description

In this role, you will support the research leadership with strategic and operational tasks in a scientific context. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and overseeing scientific projects, particularly in the area of cancer genomics.
  • Acting as the central point of contact for clinical and biological partners, especially concerning data management and associated ethical and legal frameworks.
  • Contributing to the preparation of project proposals, reports, and scientific publications.
  • Managing the lab website and social media initiatives.
  • Organizing and supporting internal and external meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Serving as an interface between research efforts and administrative tasks.

Profile

  • Completed university degree (PhD) in mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, a natural science, medical, or related field.
  • Experience in scientific research, ideally in machine learning and/or data science.
  • Strong organizational skills and an independent, structured working style.
  • Experience in project management within an academic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in both German and English, written and spoken.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration within a dynamic, international team.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and ethical aspects related to handling patient data is an advantage.
  • Experience in graphic design (e.g., for journal covers) would be a plus.
