Scientific Affairs Manager

40%-100%, Zurich, fixed-term

The research group led by Professor Valentina Boeva at ETH Zurich is seeking a dedicated Scientific Affairs Manager with a strong scientific background. Ideal candidates will have experience collaborating with biological or clinical labs, as well as groups focused on machine learning. The starting date will be determined by mutual agreement. A pronounced interest in working at the intersection of machine learning, biology, and medicine is expected.

We offer a one-year contract with the potential for transition to a permanent position.

Job Description

In this role, you will support research leadership with strategic and operational tasks in a scientific context. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and overseeing scientific projects, particularly in the field of cancer genomics.
  • Acting as the central point of contact for clinical and biological partners regarding data management, ethics, and legal frameworks.
  • Contributing to the preparation of project proposals, reports, and scientific publications.
  • Managing the lab website and social media presence.
  • Organizing and supporting internal and external meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Servicing as an interface between research and administration.

Profile

  • Completed university degree (PhD) in mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, natural sciences, medicine, or a related field.
  • Experience in scientific research, preferably in machine learning and/or data science.
  • Strong organizational skills with an independent, structured work style.
  • Experience in project management within an academic setting.
  • Excellent communication skills in both German and English, both written and spoken.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration within a dynamic, international team.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and ethical aspects related to handling patient data is advantageous.
  • Experience in graphic design (e.g., for journal covers) is a plus.
