Join Our Team as a Scientific Affairs Manager

The research group led by Professor Valentina Boeva at ETH Zurich is seeking a dedicated Scientific Affairs Manager. The ideal candidate will possess a robust scientific background, with experience in collaboration with biological or clinical laboratories, alongside groups specializing in machine learning. We are looking for someone who has a keen interest in working within an interdisciplinary environment that intersects machine learning, biology, and medicine. The starting date will be by mutual agreement.

About the Position

This role encompasses both strategic and operational tasks within a scientific context, supporting research leadership. Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and overseeing scientific projects, particularly in the area of cancer genomics.
  • Acting as the central point of contact for clinical and biological partners, especially concerning data management, ethics, and legal frameworks.
  • Contributing to the preparation of project proposals, reports, and scientific publications.
  • Managing the lab's website and social media channels.
  • Organizing and supporting internal and external meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Serving as a liaison between research and administration.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates should have:

  • A completed university degree (PhD) in mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, a natural science, medical, or related field.
  • Experience in scientific research, preferably within the realm of machine learning and/or data science.
  • Strong organizational skills coupled with a structured, independent working style.
  • Project management experience within an academic setting.
  • Excellent communication skills in both German and English, written and spoken.
  • An interest in interdisciplinary work within a dynamic, international team.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and ethical considerations related to handling patient data is a plus.
  • Graphic design experience (e.g., for journal covers) would be advantageous.
