Job Purpose

The Stock Take Assistant supports the School Shop Manager during the bi-annual inventory period. This temporary position is concentrated on stock counting, organization, data accuracy, and preparation of the shop for the new academic year. The role demands precision, reliability, discretion, and the capacity to work efficiently within a structured process.

  • Respect confidentiality regarding pricing, margins, and internal processes

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Physical Stock Count

  • Accurately count all merchandise (uniforms, branded items, unbranded items, accessories, etc.)
  • Follow stock-taking procedures as instructed
  • Record quantities clearly and correctly
  • Double-check discrepancies when required

Inventory Control & Organisation

  • Reorganize shelves and storage areas during counting
  • Ensure products are correctly labeled and sized
  • Identify damaged, missing, or obsolete items

Data Entry & Accuracy

  • Input stock data into the inventory system
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail
  • Report any inconsistencies immediately to the School Shop Manager

Shop Preparation

  • Assist in preparing the shop for the back-to-school opening
  • Organize uniforms by size and house
  • Support restocking and merchandising as needed

Working Conditions

This is a temporary assignment involving physical work, including lifting boxes and standing for extended periods. The successful candidate will collaborate with the School Shop Manager and assistants in a busy, fast-paced environment.

Other Tasks and Responsibilities

Undertake any additional tasks reasonably required by the School Shop Manager to assist in the smooth running of the School Shop. It is also imperative to understand and implement all school policies and procedures, particularly those related to safeguarding children and young people, while upholding the School’s Guiding Principles and ethos at all times.
