Job Opportunity: School Shop Stock Take Assistant

The Stock Take Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the School Shop Manager during the bi-annual inventory period. This temporary position focuses on stock counting, organization, data accuracy, and preparing the shop for the upcoming academic year. The ideal candidate will possess precision, reliability, discretion, and the ability to work efficiently within a structured process.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Physical Stock Count

  • Accurately count all merchandise, including uniforms, branded items, unbranded items, and accessories
  • Follow stock-take procedures as instructed
  • Record quantities clearly and correctly
  • Double-check discrepancies when required

Inventory Control & Organization

  • Reorganize shelves and storage areas during counting
  • Ensure products are correctly labeled and sized
  • Identify damaged, missing, or obsolete items

Data Entry & Accuracy

  • Input stock data into the inventory system
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail
  • Report any inconsistencies immediately to the School Shop Manager

Shop Preparation

  • Assist in preparing the shop for the back-to-school opening
  • Organize uniforms by size and house
  • Support restocking and merchandising where needed

Working Conditions

  • This is a temporary assignment
  • Physical work includes lifting boxes and standing for extended periods
  • Teamwork with the School Shop Manager and assistants is essential
  • The environment is busy and fast-paced

Other Responsibilities

  • Undertake any additional tasks reasonably required by the School Shop Manager to facilitate the smooth operation of the School Shop
  • Understand and implement all school policies and procedures, particularly those regarding the safeguarding of children and young people
  • Uphold the ethos of the School and adhere to its Guiding Principles at all times
