The Computer Vision Lab is seeking Robotics Research Scientists with robust expertise in learning-based control for dexterous robotic manipulation, grounded in computer vision and haptic sensing. You will be at the forefront of designing intelligent control systems that enable robots to perform complex, human-like manipulation tasks in both simulated and real-world environments.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and engineers to develop innovative algorithms and systems for learning to control robotic manipulators using methods such as imitation learning, reinforcement learning, and teleoperation frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct cutting-edge research on learning-based robotic control algorithms for dexterous manipulation tasks.
  • Develop and deploy methods that integrate visual perception and haptic feedback for real-time control.
  • Design and implement imitation learning and reinforcement learning pipelines for real and simulated robots.
  • Research and adapt VLA foundation models for real-world robotic control tasks.
  • Build and optimize teleoperation systems to facilitate human demonstrations for robotic learning.
  • Create and manage large-scale robotic simulation environments for data generation and pretraining.
  • Transition algorithms from simulation to real robot platforms and validate their performance in real-world settings.
  • Publish in top-tier robotics and AI conferences and journals (e.g., ICRA, RSS, CoRL, NeurIPS, CVPR).

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in robotic manipulation, learning-based control, and multi-modal sensor fusion.
  • Proficiency in imitation learning, reinforcement learning, and learning by demonstration for control tasks.
  • Hands-on experience with robot simulators (e.g., MuJoCo, Isaac Gym, Gazebo) and real robotic platforms (e.g., Franka Emika, UR, Allegro Hand, Shadow Hand).
  • Familiarity with teleoperation systems, VR-based demonstrations, or haptic telepresence.
  • Solid programming skills in Python and C++ with relevant frameworks (e.g., ROS, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional research teams and contribute to high-impact publications.
