Return Seeking Associate / Return Seeking Associate

APOLLO MANAGEMENT ADVISORS SWITZERLAND SÀRL - April 21, 2026

Position Overview

As part of Apollo, ISGI serves as a dedicated investment office catering to large, strategic, and sophisticated insurance and pension clients. Our clients are investing more than €15 billion into "Return Seeking" (RS) assets managed by ISGI, which includes a diverse range of evolving private debt and equity investments, all originated and underwritten by Apollo. The strategy focuses on a relative value-oriented approach that emphasizes consistent outperformance and capital preservation for insurance and pension funds while adhering to their local regulatory constraints. Investments encompass a wide spectrum of credit, real assets, and equity-like opportunities originating from various jurisdictions and markets globally.

The ISGI RS team, based in Zurich, spearheads this initiative and provides comprehensive support to insurance clients in portfolio management, investment selection, analytics, reporting, educational resources, and assistance regarding Solvency II optimization. Our primary objective is to construct portfolios of private investments while helping clients navigate regulatory requirements and board defenses.

The Associate role is designed to seamlessly integrate into the team, focusing on the origination and management of private investments, particularly for Israeli insurance companies. This position enables clients to allocate assets to private investments within the confines of Israeli regulations. The ideal candidate will fully immerse themselves in the Zurich-based RS team's efforts toward the global origination of these private investments. A dedication to improving economics, insights, and service through expertise, strong client relationships, and a collaborative cross-functional approach is essential.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Focus on private investments that are originated by Apollo across various markets and are placed on the balance sheets of regulated Israeli insurance and pension funds.
  • Build constructive relationships with clients in Israel by understanding their constraints, facilitating interactions with management, investment committees, auditors, and regulators.
  • Prepare and present summaries of new deals specifically originated by Apollo to assist Israeli investors in their decision-making processes.
  • Defend investment decisions, coordinate necessary governance for efficient approvals, and prepare the requisite investment and reporting materials within the regulatory framework, including the Solvency II prudent person principle.
  • Liaise internally with Apollo deal teams to support the origination and structuring of new deals that meet Israeli client needs and constraints.
  • Manage the understanding, preparation, and adjustment of investor reports, along with ad hoc responses for both internal (management information) and external (client regulatory reporting) use.
  • Utilize and refine analytics to track and project capital activity, returns, forecasting, capital consumption, drawdown risk, diversification, and other metrics for constructing portfolios of private investments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in investment functions at (i) a large insurance company, (ii) an insurance asset management company, (iii) an investment bank within an insurance solutions or structuring group, (iv) a consulting firm specializing in insurance regulation or law, or (v) an alternative asset management group.
  • Previous experience with alternative investments/private investments is essential.
  • Understanding of fixed income principles, capital markets, and private origination across asset-backed and corporate finance.
  • Familiarity with Solvency II regulation, including the Standard Formula calculation and assessment for private assets, as well as the nuances between Israeli adoption and the continental European framework. Experience documenting investment decisions against these regulations and awareness of Prudent Person Principle (PPP) requirements is crucial.
  • Ability to defend investment proposals to clients, coupled with strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter with a robust work ethic, demonstrating a willingness to consistently go the extra mile.
  • Aptitude for performing under pressure, multitasking, and responding quickly and decisively to deliverables.
  • Proficient in SQL, VBA, Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint for effective data manipulation, portfolio reporting, and modeling, particularly regarding private investment portfolios.
