ETH Zurich is one of the world’s leading universities specializing in science and technology. Renowned for its excellent education, cutting-edge research, and efforts to translate new knowledge and innovations into practice, it stands out as a hub for scientific advancement. The Scientific Software and Data Management (SSDM) group, part of Scientific IT Services (SIS) within central IT, develops software and data management solutions for research projects across the ETH domain, offering a stimulating, flexible, and family-friendly working environment in Zurich and Basel.
The SSDM group consists of software engineers from diverse backgrounds, working collaboratively to support research projects across a wide range of ETH's academic departments, including biology, physics, engineering, economics, architecture, and more. With an expanding portfolio of projects, we are seeking a versatile software engineer to take on leadership roles and contribute to various initiatives.
You will work on a Horizon-funded project, EOSC Data Commons, collaborating with other developers within SIS and partner institutions. Your role will involve building a framework for discovering, sharing, and executing data and algorithms in a distributed environment. The primary technology stack will feature Python, with additional knowledge in Scala and Typescript considered advantageous.
We are particularly interested in candidates who are adaptable, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate a keen interest in acquiring new skills.
We offer a stimulating, multicultural working environment with colleagues from various disciplines. Our organization values flexibility over rigid job roles and minimal bureaucracy. You will have the opportunity to design and architect innovative solutions while collaborating with some of the leading scientists in their fields.
The position is initially for a duration of 1 year, with the possibility of renewal.
