ETH Zurich is one of the world’s leading universities specializing in science and technology. Renowned for its excellent education, cutting-edge fundamental research, and its efforts to translate new knowledge and innovations into practical applications, we are excited to invite you to join our dynamic team.
The Scientific Software and Data Management (SSDM) unit, part of Scientific IT Services (SIS) within our central IT department, is responsible for developing software and data management solutions for a wide range of research projects across the ETH domain. We provide a stimulating, flexible, and family-friendly working environment in Zurich and Basel.
SSDM comprises software engineers from diverse backgrounds who develop software to support research projects spanning various academic departments, including biology, physics, engineering, economics, architecture, and more. Due to the growing portfolio of projects, we are currently seeking a versatile software engineer to lead or contribute to multiple initiatives.
You will work on a Horizon-funded project, EOSC Data Commons, alongside other developers within SIS and at partner institutions. Your role will involve building a framework for discovering, sharing, and executing data and algorithms in a distributed environment. The primary technology used will be Python, with knowledge of Scala and Typescript seen as a significant advantage.
We are particularly interested in candidates who are flexible, communicate effectively, and are eager to acquire new skills.
We provide a stimulating, multicultural working environment with colleagues from a variety of disciplines. Our organizational structure is flexible, allowing you the opportunity to design and architect solutions while collaborating with some of the leading scientists in their fields.
SIS operates in a hybrid home-office mode, with the option to work remotely for up to 3 days per week. Our working hours are flexible, adjusted according to customer, team, and project needs.
The position is initially for a duration of 1 year, with the possibility of renewal.
