Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Research Scientist at ABB, you will be an integral part of our team, contributing to cutting-edge sensing solutions for the next generation of systems and products. Work Model
The work model for this role is hybrid.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to and lead research projects focused on industrial sensing, addressing the needs of our business sectors, including process automation, process industries, port automation, and maritime transport.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to develop novel, high-value sensing products and solutions, from concept definition through to experimental verification.
- Evaluate new technologies, conduct technical surveys, and generate project proposals that deliver business impact.
- Disseminate your findings through scientific publications and internal technical reports, while also generating intellectual property.
- Engage with researchers and engineers across various research centers, ABB business units, and universities to foster collaboration and innovation.
Qualifications for the Role
- PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a strong background in machine perception and computer vision.
- Expertise in machine learning, reinforcement learning, sensor fusion, digital signal processing, or time series analysis is advantageous.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C/C++) and familiarity with the Linux ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience with sensing hardware and software pipelines for cameras, LIDAR, or radar is a plus.
- Demonstrated publication record in top scientific conferences and journals.
- A team player attitude with a willingness to learn new industrial applications and work across a broad range of technologies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
