About the Role
The role requires a solid understanding of one or more of the following areas: molecular biology and cell biology. As a Research Scientist II, you will perform experiments and procedures demonstrating proficiency with a broad range of scientific techniques, executing high-quality experiments and delivering insightful data interpretations in collaboration with colleagues and project teams.
Major Accountabilities
- Generate hypotheses to test, troubleshoot issues, and design and execute the next set of experiments with feedback from senior lab members or management.
- Create stable research cell lines expressing membrane proteins, which includes freezing, thawing, cultivation, transfection, and selection of mammalian cell lines.
- Confirm expression using FACS analysis and perform FACS sorting when necessary.
- Conduct transient small-scale expression tests with Western Blot readouts.
- Possess a solid understanding of molecular biology and plasmid design.
- Collect, analyze, and process data; interpret results; and prepare summary documents and reports.
- Document experiments and data using electronic lab book and data management systems.
- Participate constructively in working teams and present own data at lab meetings.
- Collaborate effectively with all lab members.
- Engage in general lab responsibilities, including active participation in the organization and maintenance of equipment.

Minimum Requirements
Work Experience
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience in industry with an MSc in a relevant life science discipline, or at least 3 years of relevant work experience in industry with either a completed Apprenticeship or a BSc in a relevant life science discipline.
- Strong theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory experience in mammalian cell culture (transfection, stable cell line generation, FACS analysis).
- Ability to quickly acquire expertise in new technologies.
- Proven track record of successfully prioritizing tasks and maintaining timelines.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Independent work style, accuracy, results-driven, and a commitment to quality.
- Strong communication skills, customer-focused, and able to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
- Reliable and flexible team player, accustomed to sharing tasks and collaborating on projects.
