Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Research Scientist, you will be working on cutting-edge sensing solutions for ABB’s next generation systems and products. We are looking for a dedicated team member with a proven research track record and a passion for translating world-class academic research into an industrial context. You Will Be Primarily Accountable For:
- Leading and contributing to research projects in industrial sensing that address the needs of our businesses, with applications in areas such as process automation, process industries, port automation, and maritime transport.
- Working with multidisciplinary project teams to develop novel, high-value sensing products and solutions from the concept definition phase to experimental verification.
- Evaluating new technologies, conducting technical surveys, and generating impactful project proposals.
- Disseminating research results through scientific publications and internal technical reports, and generating intellectual property.
- Collaborating with researchers and engineers from other research centers, ABB business units, and universities.
Qualifications for the Role
- PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a strong background in machine perception and computer vision.
- Expertise in any of the following fields is an advantage: machine learning, reinforcement learning, sensor fusion, digital signal processing, or time series analysis.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C/C++) and familiarity with the Linux ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience with sensing hardware and software pipelines for cameras, LIDAR, or radar is a plus.
- A proven publication track record in top scientific conferences and journals.
- A team player with a willingness to learn new industrial applications and explore a diverse range of technologies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
