Job Overview

The Digital Human Research team at Epic Games is seeking a talented and experienced research engineer specializing in 3D garment creation. The ideal candidate will possess a deep passion for digital humans and clothing, coupled with expertise in computer graphics, computer vision, geometry processing, and machine learning. In this role, you will develop and implement advanced algorithms for human body and clothing capture, synthesis, modeling, rigging, tracking, and animation as we strive to create the next generation of digital humans. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Digital Human Research team to pioneer new technologies that elevate the standard of real-time digital humans and characters.
  • Engage with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, artists, and engineers to master the entire character creation process, from scanning and performance capture to animation and rendering.
  • Create novel Deep Learning-based architectures and algorithms to tackle challenges in human motion, appearance, behavior understanding, and emulation in 3D characters.
  • Identify inefficiencies in current processes and tools, and explore new techniques to enhance the realism of the art team's output.
  • Research and develop generative methods for modeling and animating digital humans.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in digital character technologies.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work independently.
  • Proven experience in computer graphics, computer vision, and geometry processing techniques.
  • Strong mathematical foundation.
  • Understanding of mathematical optimization and contemporary machine learning concepts.
  • Master's or Ph.D. in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python or C++.
  • Experience with PyTorch or similar machine learning frameworks.
