We are seeking a Research Engineer to join our ongoing and future research projects at the intersection of machine learning and structural design, particularly focusing on trusses and space frames.

This role emphasizes the data-driven generation of structural systems. You will be actively involved in developing, experimenting with, and evaluating machine learning models that assist in navigating extensive design spaces. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for research-driven development, prototyping innovative ideas, and engaging in interdisciplinary collaborations.

Position Details

This is a fixed-term position offered for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding. The starting date is set for March/April 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptual design of structural systems (e.g., trusses, space frames)
  • Application of unsupervised machine learning and deep learning methods
  • Analysis, visualization, and interpretation of learned design spaces
  • Contributing to research outputs, including prototypes, publications, and open-source code

Required Skills

  • Master’s degree in a STEM field
  • Strong proficiency in Python
  • Practical experience with PyTorch
  • Solid understanding of unsupervised machine learning and deep learning techniques
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Graph Neural Networks (GNN)
  • Familiarity with PyTorch Geometric (PyG)
  • Experience with or interest in Reinforcement Learning
  • Background or strong interest in optimization
