Your Responsibilities

As part of the ZuReach project, you will be involved in a range of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Participating in the design, planning, and implementation of data collection protocols, as well as online and paper-based questionnaires and focus group discussions.
  • Developing materials in both German and English, including flyers, data collection protocols, project descriptions, participants' consent forms, scientific reports, and meeting minutes.
  • Contributing to participant recruitment and scheduling by engaging adults from diverse backgrounds (e.g., community members and university students) through various channels such as social media, mailing, email, in-person outreach, and flyers.
  • Training and instructing participants in the data collection process.
  • Conducting on-site data collection in the cities of Zurich and Winterthur, as needed.
  • Researching data quality assessment and assisting with the verification and analysis of collected datasets.
  • Applying AI and digital methods for image processing to extract accessibility features (e.g., width, smoothness), if necessary.
  • Collaborating with researchers, public organizations, and other institutions to further project goals.

Your Profile

We are seeking a highly motivated and open-minded researcher who possesses a passion for science and demonstrates an independent, efficient, organized, and effective work style. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • A completed bachelor's degree in Geography, GIScience, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • A strong background in quantitative data analysis, statistical analysis, computational modeling, and programming (e.g., Python, SQL, R) is a prerequisite.
  • Knowledge of qualitative study design and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with spatial data storage and databases.
  • Experience in machine learning/deep learning, image processing, and spatial data analysis is advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, demonstrating friendliness, respect, and teamwork.
  • Prior experience in interdisciplinary projects is considered an asset.
  • A keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both German and English are mandatory; knowledge of additional Swiss national languages (Italian and French) is a plus.
  • A valid Swiss residency permit is required.
