Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will be involved in the execution and analysis of the ZuReach project. Your tasks will include, but are not limited to:
- Participating in the design, planning, and implementation of data collection protocols, both online and paper-based questionnaires, and focus group discussions.
- Developing materials in German and English (e.g., flyers, data collection protocols, project descriptions, participants' consent forms, scientific reports, meeting minutes, etc.).
- Contributing to participant recruitment and scheduling by engaging adults from various backgrounds (e.g., the community, university students) through multiple channels (social media, mail, email, in-person discussions, flyers).
- Training and instructing participants in data collection.
- Conducting on-site data collection in the cities of Zurich and Winterthur, as needed.
- Researching data quality assessments and assisting with the verification and analysis of collected datasets.
- Applying AI and digital methods for image processing to extract accessibility features (e.g., width, smoothness), if required.
- Collaborating with researchers, public organizations, and other institutions.
Your Profile
We are searching for a highly motivated and open-minded researcher who possesses a passion for science combined with an independent, efficient, organized, and effective work style. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- A completed bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIScience, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- A robust background in quantitative data analysis, statistical analysis, computational modeling, and programming (e.g., Python, SQL, R).
- Knowledge of qualitative study design and data analysis.
- Familiarity with spatial data storage and databases.
- Experience in machine learning, deep learning, image processing, and spatial data analysis is desirable.
- Excellent social skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people; being helpful, respectful, approachable, and team-oriented is essential.
- Previous experience in interdisciplinary projects is an advantage.
- A keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in written and spoken German AND English is mandatory; knowledge of other Swiss national languages (Italian and French) is a plus.
- A valid Swiss residency permit is required.
