The Development Economics Group (DEC) at ETH Zurich is committed to advancing empirical economic research that shapes effective policies aimed at reducing global poverty and inequalities. Position Overview

The Development Economics Group (ETH-DEC) is offering a research assistant position in Development Economics, commencing on October 1st for a duration of six months. This role is ideal for individuals seeking valuable research experience between their Master’s degree and a PhD program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleaning data sets and conducting or reproducing statistical analyses in preparation for academic publications.
  • Visualizing research results and performing literature reviews.
  • Conducting data searches to support research efforts.
  • Engaging in organizational tasks essential for the smooth operation of our research group.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in economics, statistics, or development studies.
  • A strong background in quantitative methods with a keen interest in coding.
  • Genuine interest in global poverty and inequality issues.
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as R and/or STATA is essential.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of InDesign, French, or German is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience working with an international organization focused on global development is a plus, though not required.
