Business Rates Surveyor Opportunity
We are working on behalf of a property consultancy seeking an experienced and motivated Business Rates Surveyor to join their growing team. This is a fully remote role, offering the opportunity to work from home while managing a varied portfolio of commercial properties across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of commercial properties for business rates purposes
- Review rateable values and identify opportunities for reductions
- Prepare, submit, and negotiate business rates appeals through all stages (Check, Challenge, Appeal)
- Liaise with the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) and other relevant authorities
- Provide strategic advice to clients on business rates liabilities and mitigation strategies
- Analyse property data, lease information, and market evidence
- Maintain accurate records and case files using internal systems
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication
- Stay up to date with legislation, case law, and industry developments
Requirements
- MRICS Qualified
- Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 + benefits + bonus
- Proven experience as a Business Rates Surveyor or within rating
- Strong working knowledge of the UK business rates system and appeals process
- Experience dealing with the Valuation Office Agency (VOA)
- Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property/rating software
