The Role

We are currently seeking dedicated and experienced Recovery Counsellors (100%) to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of personal recovery experience, professional competence, and a deep commitment to supporting others on their recovery journey. In this role, you will collaborate closely with medical and mental health professionals to deliver comprehensive care, guidance, and encouragement to our clients.

Start date: immediately or by agreement.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of continuous abstinence from all psychoactive substances
  • Excellent written and spoken English (C2 professional proficiency); proficiency in other languages is an advantage
  • Active and ongoing participation in personal recovery work or mutual aid groups (e.g., Narcotics Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous)
  • A clear understanding of your recovery process and the ability to articulate it effectively
  • Good IT skills and proficiency in writing reports and clinical notes
  • A high degree of professional and personal competence as an "expert from experience"
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team led by medical professionals
  • Relevant training or work experience
  • Experience working with a culturally diverse clientele
  • A current driver’s license and willingness to drive
  • Ability to commute or relocate near Lucerne, Switzerland
  • Willingness to work shifts (combination of day, overnight, weekends, holidays)
  • Eligibility for a work permit in Switzerland (CH/EU-/EFTA nationals); an EU passport is ideal for obtaining a work permit if applying from outside Switzerland

Key Responsibilities

As a valued member of our clinical team, Recovery Counsellors provide essential motivation, support, and guidance to clients on their recovery journeys, always with a strong commitment to confidentiality. You will work alongside medical staff and other team members to ensure integrated care and actively contribute to the implementation of client treatment plans. This role allows you to leverage your own recovery experience to inspire and guide clients, moderate and facilitate group sessions, escort clients to mutual aid groups in Zurich and Lucerne, and accompany them on various off-site activities. You will also organize and supervise overnight, on-call, and weekend plans.

Additionally, you will be responsible for digitally documenting and recording client sessions and other program-related activities, contributing to a comprehensive and organized summary of client progress.
