A quantitative hedge fund based in Geneva, Switzerland, is currently seeking talented quantitative PhD graduates to enhance our research and trading team. Successful candidates will become integral members of a group of algorithmic trading professionals, embarking on a quantitative researcher career path. Our firm specializes in alternative asset classes, with a significant focus on foreign exchange and futures markets.

Role Description

  • Join a tight-knit team of PhD researchers developing systematic trading strategies in foreign exchange, futures, and equities markets.
  • Be mentored by senior portfolio managers with extensive experience in algorithmic trading and quantitative fund management.
  • Conduct innovative research into trading signals, statistical prediction models, portfolio construction techniques, and risk-return optimization.
  • Analyze existing trading strategies and explore methods to enhance their performance in terms of returns profile, execution efficiency, and capacity.
  • Review academic work, plan and conduct experiments, and document findings for the team.
  • Obtain a thorough understanding of relevant markets, including trading venues, liquidity sources, and other market participants.
  • Contribute to developing the programming for the simulation codebase, enabling the team to analyze candidate strategies, including running backtests and evaluating statistical characteristics.
  • Develop infrastructure to investigate the performance characteristics of live strategies.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • PhD in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or Mathematics from a top-tier institution.
  • Proven track record in conducting creative, independent quantitative research.
  • Strong intuition and demonstrated proficiency in quantitative fields, including statistical modeling, machine learning, optimization, or financial engineering.
  • Programming experience; familiarity with a functional programming language is a plus.
  • Financial knowledge or experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
