Job Description

The QHSE Manager will report to the senior management team and be tasked with maintaining quality standards, managing audit requirements, and fostering a robust Health & Safety culture throughout the facility. Collaboration with Team Leaders and the wider manufacturing team will be essential to ensure that quality and safety standards are upheld in both the factory and office settings.

A significant aspect of this role includes managing BRCGS requirements, facilitating annual certification audits, and addressing customer quality needs. This position is ideal for an experienced QHSE, QA, or HSE professional seeking a permanent role within a manufacturing context, where strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and practical knowledge can directly enhance site compliance and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Quality, Health & Safety, and compliance activities across the site.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the site's quality and Health & Safety systems.
  • Oversee BRCGS requirements and coordinate preparation for annual certification audits.
  • Manage and address customer quality requirements and audits.
  • Ensure quality standards are upheld throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring that actions are identified and completed.
  • Monitor compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Promote a positive Health & Safety culture across the factory and office environment.
  • Ensure employee compliance with Health & Safety legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Work closely with Team Leaders and operational teams to maintain quality and safety standards on a daily basis.
  • Maintain accurate QHSE documentation, records, and reporting.
  • Support investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues on Quality and Health & Safety matters.

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience in a QHSE, Quality, QA, HSE, or similar role.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong expertise with BRCGS requirements and certification.
  • Experience managing or assisting with annual BRCGS audits.
  • Familiarity with customer quality audits and requirements.
  • Solid understanding of Health & Safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across a manufacturing site.
  • A proactive and practical approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Advantageous Requirements

  • Previous experience in food, food packaging, healthcare packaging, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and quality management systems.
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualifications.
  • Experience managing internal and external audits.
  • Familiarity with FSC and/or PEFC certification.
