About the Company

ANAVIA specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) systems weighing up to 500 kilograms. Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, coupled with three years of industry experience. A doctoral degree is considered equivalent to industry experience.
  • Experience: Over eight years of systems engineering development experience, with at least five years focused on propulsion system design, integration, and testing, ideally involving gas or heavy fuel engines. Additional experience with heavy fuel engines in maritime operations and previous technical leadership in UAV/aerospace projects is advantageous.
  • Skills:
    • Expertise in power and propulsion systems, including components such as fuel systems, propulsion-airframe integration, and ground equipment.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing vendor partnerships and leading cross-functional engineering teams.
    • Strong project management skills utilizing Agile, SCRUM, or similar methodologies.
    • Familiarity with aerospace environmental testing standards such as DO-160 and MIL-STD-461.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills along with strong social acumen and analytical capabilities.
  • Language: Proficient in English (both oral and written); knowledge of German is desirable.

Key Tasks

  • Propulsion System Leadership: Serve as the technical authority for propulsion systems, defining system requirements and overseeing engine integration and verification methods. Collaborate with vendors to identify and troubleshoot performance issues while driving design improvements.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Collaborate with aerodynamics, structural, and avionics teams to optimize engine integration, cooling, and vibration mitigation, ensuring alignment with helicopter mission profiles such as endurance, payload capacity, altitude, and temperature.
  • Testing & Validation: Lead ground and flight testing initiatives to validate engine performance in operational settings. Develop comprehensive test campaigns and plans, analyzing data to refine system parameters.
  • Vendor & Customer Management: Act as the primary technical liaison between internal teams and propulsion system vendors. Review vendor designs, conduct risk assessments, and ensure project timelines are met. Engage with customers to clarify requirements and resolve ambiguities.
  • Lifecycle Support: Create maintenance protocols and failure-mode analyses for propulsion systems, supporting field operations in diagnosing and resolving engine-related issues while managing Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operations strategically.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation, including design specifications, drawings, testing procedures, and maintenance manuals, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of advancements in mechanical engineering and UAV technology, incorporating best practices into analytical processes.

  • Adhere to ANAVIA's employment contract, safety instructions, quality manual, and corresponding process specifications.
  • Be prepared for international travel, which may require up to 25% of working hours.
