Anavia AG - April 16, 2026

About the Company

ANAVIA specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) systems, capable of carrying loads of up to 500 kilograms. Our company provides industry-leading unmanned helicopter systems tailored for various mission profiles, including Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Inspection, Mapping, and Cargo transport.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, along with three years of industry experience. A Doctoral degree can substitute for industry experience.
  • Experience: Over eight years of systems engineering development experience, including at least five years in propulsion system design, integration, and testing, preferably with gas or heavy fuel engines. Experience with heavy fuel engines in maritime operations and prior technical lead roles in UAV/aerospace projects is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Comprehensive knowledge of power and propulsion systems and subsystem components, including fuel systems, propulsion-airframe integration, and ground equipment.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing vendor partnerships and cross-functional engineering teams.
    • Strong project management capabilities using Agile, SCRUM, or similar frameworks.
    • Familiarity with DO-160, MIL-STD-461, or other aerospace environmental testing standards.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, alongside strong analytical abilities and technical understanding.
  • Language: Proficiency in English (oral and written) is required. German language skills are desirable.
  • Passport: Only applications from Swiss or EU Nationals will be considered.

Key Tasks

  • Propulsion System Leadership: Serve as the technical authority for propulsion systems, defining system requirements, and overseeing engine integration and verification methods. Collaborate with vendors to resolve performance issues and drive design enhancements.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Work alongside aerodynamics, structural, and avionics teams to optimize engine integration, cooling solutions, and vibration mitigation, ensuring alignment with helicopter mission profiles (e.g., endurance, payload capacity, altitude, and thermal factors).
  • Testing & Validation: Lead ground and flight testing campaigns to validate engine performance under operational conditions, developing test campaigns and plans while analyzing data to refine system parameters.
  • Vendor & Customer Management: Act as the primary technical liaison between internal teams and propulsion system vendors, reviewing vendor designs, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring timely project deliverables while supporting customer engagements to clarify requirements.
  • Lifecycle Support: Develop maintenance protocols and failure-mode analyses for propulsion systems, assisting field operations teams in diagnosing and resolving engine-related issues while maintaining strategic alignment with Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operations.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation, including design specifications, testing procedures, and maintenance manuals, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Remain informed about advancements in mechanical engineering and UAV technology, integrating best practices into analysis processes.
