The World Food System Center (WFSC) at ETH Zurich is a Competence Center dedicated to advancing research and education in food systems. By uniting expertise from various disciplines, we tackle pressing challenges related to food and nutrition security, environmental and human health, and social well-being. Our Center not only supports extensive research activities across the food system but also fosters collaboration among academia, industry, and policy to develop impactful solutions, ranging from local to global scales.

We offer a diverse array of educational activities and learning opportunities, including summer schools, workshops, and other outreach formats to prepare the next generation of food system experts with the essential knowledge and skills needed to transform food systems.

Open Position: Project Manager

Are you passionate about advancing research, education, and dialogue on sustainable food systems? We are seeking a dedicated Project Manager who will manage and develop research activities and programs, facilitate education and exchange, and represent our Center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage existing research programs and develop new interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Design innovative educational formats for diverse audiences, such as Summer Schools and workshops.
  • Foster dialogue between science, practice, and policy to identify effective solutions for global food system challenges.
  • Co-organize the 2-week Summer School and other educational outreach events.
  • Facilitate various exchange formats (workshops, events, and peer-to-peer learning) to support dialogue at the Science-Practice and Science-Policy interfaces.
  • Create content for communication initiatives in collaboration with the Communication Manager.
  • Represent the Center in discussions aimed at enhancing project-based food system education at ETH and beyond.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates should possess:

  • A Master's or PhD in agricultural or food sciences (or related fields strongly connected to food system sciences).
  • Experience in food system-related activities, project management, and education.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Fluency in English and German.
