The World Food System Center (WFSC) at ETH Zurich is a leading Competence Center dedicated to advancing research and education in food systems. We unite expertise from various disciplines to tackle critical challenges associated with food and nutrition security, environmental and human health, and social wellbeing. Through our initiatives, we support research activities that span the entire food system and promote collaboration among academia, industry, and policy to develop meaningful solutions at both local and global scales. Additionally, we offer a variety of educational activities, including summer schools, workshops, and outreach programs, aimed at equipping the next generation of food system experts with the essential knowledge and skills to drive transformation in food systems.
Your Opportunity
Are you passionate about advancing research, education, and dialogue on sustainable food systems? We have an exciting position open for a Project Manager to support the management and development of our research activities and programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate current and future research programs and activities (including Future Food Initiative, Smart Sustainable Farming Program, Thematic Spotlights, etc.).
- Co-develop new inter- and transdisciplinary research programs and activities based on existing or emerging funding opportunities, in collaboration with external partners.
- Co-develop and co-organize our 2-week Summer School and various educational formats, along with outreach events that include educational elements.
- Develop and facilitate diverse exchange formats such as workshops, educational formats, and peer-to-peer learning to enhance dialogue at the Science-Practice and Science-Policy Interface.
- Create content for communication activities related to WFSC research and education in collaboration with the Communication Manager.
- Represent the Center to strengthen project-based food system education at ETH Zurich and beyond.
Qualifications
We are looking for a Project Manager with:
- A Master’s or PhD in agricultural or food sciences (or related fields with strong links to food system sciences).
- Experience in food system-related activities.
- Proven project management skills and a keen interest in education.
- Strong communication and facilitation abilities.
- Fluency in English and German is mandatory.
