About the AO Innovation Translation Center
The AO Innovation Translation Center (AO ITC) is dedicated to streamlining and driving innovation projects. Our focus includes the development of clinical solutions in collaboration with industrial partners, gathering innovations, conducting proof-of-concept studies, strategically investing in intellectual property, technologies, or companies, and generating evidence through clinical research.
Clinical Operations
Within the AO ITC, Clinical Operations serves as the organization's service provider for clinical research. Our clinical research specialists provide insights that are highly relevant to current surgical practices, enhancing patient care through the planning and conducting of global clinical trials.

Main Responsibilities
- Develop and validate algorithms, including machine learning-based classification or prediction algorithms relevant to clinical contexts.
- Create dashboards or visualizations for real-time tracking and insights into ongoing study-related activities.
- Develop, implement, and optimize codes/programming for statistical analysis, adhering to statistical analysis plans (SAPs), including the creation of tables, listings, and figures (TLFs).
- Draft statistical analysis plans, monitor statistics, and conduct sample size (re-)estimation for complex clinical research projects.
- Guide stakeholders in defining their data analysis objectives.
- Develop and implement innovative concepts (including the utilization of AI) for process improvements in clinical research.
- Contribute to statistical reports and support publications for clinical research initiatives.
Additional Statistical Activities
- Provide consultancy in statistical and data science, including model and data interpretation, for Project Managers and Principal Investigators.
- Simplify and present complex statistical and machine learning analyses for non-technical stakeholders through visualizations and clear summaries.
Main Requirements
- MSc degree in Data Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Strong programming skills (preferably in SAS) with experience in managing large, complex clinical datasets.
- Advanced capabilities in data analysis, including predictive modeling, machine learning, and diagnostic accuracy analyses.
- Comprehensive understanding of statistical concepts and practical application in real-world research or clinical data contexts.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data for decision-making and measure process success.
- Familiarity with clinical data standards (e.g., CDISC, SDTM).
- Knowledge of project management software (e.g., MS Project, JIRA) and clinical data management tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and reliability.
- Flexible, customer-focused mindset with a collaborative and team-oriented approach to work.
- Fluency in English.
