As a Project Lead Buyer, you will be a key member of our dynamic Supply Chain team. Together, we ensure that our innovative products—ranging from precisely manufactured components to complete rocket half-shells—are delivered on time, with top quality, and under optimal conditions.
In this pivotal role, you will:
- Take responsibility for the strategic development of our procurement operations.
- Drive continuous improvement and help build strong, reliable supplier partnerships.
- Analyze global sourcing markets, anticipate material needs, and ensure supply security—all with a sharp focus on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
Your key interfaces will include Project Management, Engineering, Commodity Management, and your local team. Your impact will be immediate and meaningful—on projects, products, and our company’s success.

Your Mission:
- Request quotations for prototype, flight, and serial parts/materials, as well as for production-required jigs and tools.
- Actively challenge the status quo (BOMs and supplier portfolio).
- Sourcing possible suppliers based on technical, economic, and quality requirements.
- Support calculations for customer offers by providing cost overviews for procurement parts and materials.
- Clarify technical feasibility with suppliers and propose alternative solutions (design to cost) in the concept phase.
- Negotiate prices and conditions and establish procurement contracts.
- Continuously optimize total cost of ownership (TCO) and drive savings initiatives.
- Represent purchasing interests in the product development process (BOM, specification/drawing availability, meeting cost targets, manufacturing deadlines).
- Ensure all externally sourced BOM parts, materials, and jigs are available in line with project milestones.
- Highlight potential deviations from plan (cost, time, quality), define, and ensure counter actions.
- Maintain ERP procurement article data.
- Ensure sourcing complies with company and legal sourcing rules.
- Issue and follow up on orders (if applicable, together with the Purchasers and Buyers).
- Participate in supplier qualification and development.
- Issue and follow up on supplier quality claims.
Your Story:
- Strong intrinsic motivation to challenge the status quo!
- Completed technical and/or commercial education with 3+ years of in-depth procurement experience.
- Very good understanding of procurement tools and methods.
- Experience in global sourcing with a solid technical understanding.
- High awareness for costs and quality.
- Good negotiation skills and a strong drive for results.
- High reliability and adherence to deadlines.
- Experience working in project environments and multifunctional teams.
- Experience in the use of SAP ERP system and related procurement administrative and control tasks.
- Space or aeronautics experience is a plus.
- Fluent in English and German is a must.
- Lean and Six Sigma education and experience would be an asset.
- Sensible and empathetic communication skills.
