Scope of the Role:

Reporting to the BU Management and Operations Director, you will be a self-starter who works on your own initiative. This role entails managing and coordinating all aspects of the project in relation to the project scope of work. In leading and managing the Project Team while interfacing with the Client Team, you will establish clear direction and expectations for the safe delivery of a fully integrated build, on time and on budget. As a crucial part of the core project management team, you will be responsible for creating the vision, providing leadership, setting targets, developing processes, managing quality, and ensuring adherence to all EHS requirements across all projects.

Responsibilities of the Role:

Weekly Meetings

  • Schedule and chair meetings with your team, the Design team, and the Client.
  • Follow up and ensure timely close-out of outstanding items.
  • Attend and actively contribute to EHS and QA meetings.
  • Participate in morning whiteboard and evening schedule meetings.

Weekly Audits

  • Implement the Mercury Project audit plan.
  • Review weekly project audits and address open items with your team.
  • Discuss findings and trends with the Construction Manager and BU leads.
  • Ensure audit findings are clearly communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Drive closure of all open audit findings.
  • Effectively communicate all EHS alerts.
  • Engage in campaigns addressing alerts—TBT, Stand-down, Demonstration.
  • Encourage workforce participation.

Mercury Procedures

  • Ensure Mercury Procedures are implemented and adhered to on your project.
  • Review and understand the Project specifications and documentation with your team.
  • Plan procurement and ensure timely engineering development.
  • Complete all Material Take Offs to compare with Sub-Contractor pricing returns.
  • Review output quality and promote continuous improvement.
  • Attend planned meetings, TBT, SLT, DABS periodically.

Client Meetings

  • Participate in client meetings.
  • Promote strong QEHS approaches with the Client.
  • Identify and communicate improvement opportunities.
  • Share Mercury reports highlighting positives and negatives.
  • Advise where the Client’s approach needs adjustment.

Training

  • Provide training opportunities for your team and Sub-contractors.
  • Establish standards for training requirements for Mercury and Sub-Contractor staff.

Project Weekly Report

  • Review weekly progress updates with the project planner and implement strategies to keep the project on track. Issue the project report.

Weekly Planner

  • Utilize project lookaheads to drive project outcomes.
  • Co-ordinate with various Project teams to meet deadlines.
  • Conduct sub-contractor meetings, safety walks, and audits.
  • Maintain Client interface.

Project Team Management

  • Guide and support your project team.
  • Align your expectations with project requirements.
  • Clearly communicate expectations and ensure they're understood.
  • Empower your Construction Manager to establish an effective site.
  • Set clear expectations and track progress against KPIs.
  • Fulfill all other duties associated with this role.

Your Qualifications and Key Criteria:

  • Engineering Degree or recognized trade qualification.
  • 10+ years’ experience managing large construction projects as a General Contractor.
  • In-depth knowledge of Civil, Structural, and Architectural packages.
  • Flexibility in working patterns as required.
  • Ability to manage a team effectively through expectation setting, delegation, and review.
  • Strong communication and computer skills.
  • Capability to work independently with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
