Purpose

The Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and relaying advisory and capacity support from the Global Observatory to international sport organizations. This role focuses on providing strategic advice and facilitating planning and policy-making processes, coordination meetings, and task groups.

Role Context

The Global Observatory offers gender advisory services to the international sport ecosystem, aiming to implement effective gender strategies. Key activities include:

  • Mapping existing gender-related policies, initiatives, data, and resources within the international sport ecosystem.
  • Identifying key issues, gaps, and priorities while referencing relevant research and studies on gender equality in sports.
  • Supporting the definition and prioritization of strategic milestones and actions related to gender equality.
  • Facilitating engagement, coordination, and capacity-building activities across governance, technical, and athlete-related areas.
  • Providing practical resources, tools, and guidance, including learning and training solutions where appropriate.
  • Using data and evidence to inform program design, decision-making, and resource allocation.
  • Reviewing sponsorship and investment aspects related to gender equality as necessary.
  • Managing the monthly newsletter and communications channels, including content planning, development, and publishing.
  • Overseeing the Global Observatory website, including updates and optimization.
  • Documenting and developing good practice stories on gender equality in and through sport.

This suite of actions is undertaken through a blend of in-house staff, consultants, and a network of experts from around the globe.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Coordinator will:

  • Maintain a positive and productive working relationship with relevant project collaborators in the international sport ecosystem.
  • Develop and manage the work plan agreed upon between the Global Observatory and the International Federation.
  • Monitor and manage progress towards milestones and deliverables.
  • Document partner decisions and action points related to the project.
  • Coordinate input from Global Observatory experts, networks, and service providers on related deliverables.
  • Communicate regularly with appointed liaisons in international sport organizations.
  • Develop communications to support the uptake of project advice and support.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of resources appropriate for the International Federation.
  • Document good practices and lessons learned to share with other international sport organizations.
  • Report on project progress and outcomes.
  • Coordinate the development of resources and tools by the Global Observatory to meet the needs of international sport organizations.
  • Support Global Observatory communications to key audiences.

Required Skills

The ideal candidate will possess experience and skills in the following areas:

  • International relations and diplomacy.
  • Proven experience in advancing gender equality through sport initiatives.
  • Management of multidisciplinary stakeholder collaborations.
  • Strong communication, planning, and project management skills.
  • Experience in diverse work settings including corporate and NGOs, both locally and internationally.
  • Understanding of gender equality frameworks, policies, and approaches.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural international environment.
  • Familiarity with the Global Observatory's mission and approaches.
  • Experience working in both the Global North and Global South.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Proficient in managing and building partnerships.
  • Experience in report development.
  • Research and knowledge management experience in gender equality.
  • Expertise in newsletter and email communications management.
  • Website content management, optimization, and publishing.
  • Visual brand consistency, content strategy, and digital storytelling skills.
  • Experience in story sourcing and good practice documentation.
  • Post-graduate level qualification related to sport.
