Location: Global Observatory for Gender Equality and Sport, Villa Mon-Repos, Parc de Mon-Repos 1, 1005 Lausanne

Reporting: Reports to CEO

Purpose

The Project Coordinator will play a vital role in coordinating and relaying advisory and capacity support from the Global Observatory to international sport organizations. This individual will facilitate the provision of strategic advice in planning and policy-making processes, coordinating meetings, and task groups, as well as through established focal points.

Role Context

The Global Observatory offers essential gender advisory services to the international sport ecosystem, enabling the implementation of effective gender strategies. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in mapping existing gender-related policies, initiatives, data, and resources within the international sport ecosystem.
  • Identifying key issues, gaps, and priorities, referencing relevant research and studies related to the international sport ecosystem and gender equality.
  • Supporting the definition and prioritization of strategic milestones and actions related to gender equality.
  • Facilitating engagement, coordination, and capacity-building activities across governance, technical, and athlete-related areas.
  • Providing practical resources, tools, and guidance, including learning and training solutions where appropriate.
  • Utilizing data and evidence to inform program design, decision-making, and resource allocation.
  • Reviewing sponsorship and investment aspects relevant to gender equality, where applicable.

This suite of actions is accomplished through a collaborative approach involving in-house staff, consultants, and a global network of experts.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Coordinator is tasked with:

  • Maintaining positive and productive relationships with project collaborators in the international sport ecosystem.
  • Developing and managing the work plan established between the Global Observatory and the International Federation.
  • Monitoring and managing progress towards milestones and deliverables.
  • Documenting partner decisions and action points related to the project.
  • Coordinating input from Global Observatory experts, networks, and service providers on related deliverables.
  • Communicating regularly with the appointed liaison in the international sport organization.
  • Developing communication strategies to promote the uptake of project advice and support.
  • Maintaining a database of resources that support the International Federation.
  • Documenting best practices and learnings for sharing across other international sport organizations.
  • Reporting on project progress and outcomes.
  • Coordinating the development of resources and tools by the Global Observatory to meet the needs of international sport organizations.
  • Supporting Global Observatory communications to key audiences.

Required Skills

  • International relations and diplomacy.
  • Advancing gender equality through sport initiatives.
  • Managing multi-disciplinary stakeholder collaborations.
  • Strong communication, planning, and project management skills.
  • Experience in diverse work settings, including corporate environments and NGOs, both locally and internationally.
  • Understanding of gender equality frameworks, policies, and methodologies.
  • Ability to collaborate in a multi-cultural international environment.
  • Familiarity with the Global Observatory’s mission and approaches.
  • Experience working in both the Global North and Global South.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Partnership development and management skills.
  • Experience in report writing.
  • Research and knowledge management expertise in gender equality.
